Gli osservatori

Classroom work sessions attended by observers were broken down into different phases:

  • in the first phase observers illustrated the work, explaining the aims and purposes of the project. They also illustrated the users manual and taught teachers and pupils about the use of the application
  • in the second phase the class chose topics and aims and organised work, forming work groups and allotting tasks.

Observers were present during all work phases, following the execution of work and relative methods. In some cases they assisted pupils with difficulties, requests for help and technical problems. Data were gathered by observers using an observation sheet. It was also decided to get pupils to keep a diary to record all activities performed.

It emerged from observations that both pupils and teachers were in favour of using multimedia technologies to perform school projects. For teachers the Islil database complements existing teaching material, especially in the sphere of intercultural education. Students are more involved because computers are familiar to them and because they are attracted to the idea of publishing the work performed and sharing it with youngsters from other countries.
